I cannot believe it! Someone finally took an actual photo of the Florida “State Bird”, the mosquito indigenous to our state! Or why one fears to go out after twilight here:

And Now a Little Something for the Little One

My lovely first grand daughter is expecting a baby next fall. I am so excited to be able to sew cute little things for a baby girl! She is due to be born in the fall in Utah so I have to remember how much cooler it is there than here in sunny Florida. Here is a little something I made to keep her warm at night.

The background color of the fabric is not really grey, it is blue. The fabric is a a fleece remnant that I could barely fit the pattern on. (That’s the reason for the pink snap tab) The pattern I used was McCall’s M7219, View A:

I Have Been A Busy Little Bee

If you have visited here before you may have noticed that I like to sew. A lot. Well, I am very excited because I have a whole new reason to sew. Our family is expecting a new baby girl this fall! Whoo hoo! I haven’t had a baby girl to sew for in many, many years. But in addition, I get to make a few things for the expectant Mom and the 5 year old Big  Brother.

I have spent the last few days making a special gift for the expectant Mom. A  little care package that I plan to pop in the mail this week. I don’t want to hear anything about any imperfections since this was my first attempt at these.

Now some of you will readily recognize what they are. Others… not so much. The round things are nursing pads, or milk catchers, in some circles. The bag with the cute little birds is a wet/dry bag for the pads. And the strangely shaped objects in the upper right corner are heat/cold packs.

This was truly a labor of love! the materials I used were slippery at best! I think they turned out pretty good and will serve the purpose well. Now on to the good stuff like baby girl clothes!

Until Next Time,

Toni

Today is a Day of Mixed Feelings

Posted on

On a Sunday, shall I say over forty years ago, I was in the hospital giving birth to my first child, my daughter, Teresa. She is a great person, I love her to pieces, and I am so happy she is in my life. Not to mention that she has blessed me with three fabulous grandchildren that I love beyond bounds! Happy, happy Birthday dear Sesa!

On the other hand, today is the day we all should remember, as we munch our way through our barbecue dinners, the men and women who sacrificed for our freedom. I lost friends during the Vietnam War and feel their loss every Memorial Day. Every day, I live with my Vietnam War Vet and I see the residual damage that war did to him. Please take a moment today to think about those that gave their all for each and every one of us in each and every war.
