I Made Some Things

Posted on

I have been busy in my “sewing room”. First, I made a purse for myself :

Then I decided I needed a wallet too. So I made one to match my purse but with RFID protection:

The wallet is also a wristlet, so I can just carry it with my phone inside.

Then I visited my older daughter for Christmas. You remember her; the one I made the robe for. Well, she fell in love with my wallet and bemoaned the fact that her wallet was old and worn out (Hint.Hint). So I promised to make one for her. She is quite close to her younger sister, and just happened to mention my wallet to her sister. I am sure you know where this is headed.

Here is big sister’s wallet:

Umm, yes, her initials are the same as mine, making it very tempting to keep this one!

But I did mail it to her. (Wow, have you snail mailed anything lately? I sent this in a padded envelope and it cost over $10.00US! Astonishing!)

And here is younger daughter’s wallet which I will give to her when I see her in April:

These little wallets were a lot of fun to make and quite a learning process! The first one I made (mine) isn’t even properly lined because I couldn’t quite grasp the instructions correctly.

The second and third ones are much better. In addition, I added my own idea of  putting a Faraday cloth lining around the credit card pocket. My second and third attempts were much more successful than my first! I guess, as they say, practice does make perfect.

I will tell you a little secret, if you promise not to tell my daughters. The fabrics I used for these cute little wallets (and  my purse) were from charity resale shops. I love to browse in them because I never know what I will find! (Remember my sewing machine?)

If you are curious, this pattern is the Jessica Foldover Wallet from Ithinkisew . I went to her website today and I could not find the pattern but it is possible that it is now available from Craftsy. Just remember, I do not have money links; I just post a link when I like a product or website.

Speaking of website, You may not have noticed, or maybe you have, my blog address is in the process of changing. I have decided that even though I am a fairly random poster, I am willing to finally pay a small amount to have my own domain. Hope you will still come to visit!

Have you ever made a wallet? I would love to see a picture if you have.

Until Next Time,

You’re really making me want to start sewing my own purses now.. We sew our own clothes, so why not accessories, too?! Very fashionable 😀
