Make a Do-It-Your-Self “Heat Seat”

A friend of mine started having a great deal of pain with her sciatic area. I have had surgery for sciatic issues previously and found that heat was a help for the pain. It relaxed my muscles that would tense from the pain. I thought that a little warmth might help my friend also, so I decided to make her a “Heat Seat”. It is sort of a takeoff on my Girl Scout “Sit-Upon”, from days of old. Have I ever mentioned that I was a Girl Scout for 25 years? From Brownies to Senior Scout, then Troop Leader for two Girl Scout troops.

This particular sit-upon can be heated in the microwave or chilled in the freezer to provide a cold treatment. Read the rest of this entry »

And Now a Little Something for the Little One

My lovely first grand daughter is expecting a baby next fall. I am so excited to be able to sew cute little things for a baby girl! She is due to be born in the fall in Utah so I have to remember how much cooler it is there than here in sunny Florida. Here is a little something I made to keep her warm at night.

I Have Been A Busy Little Bee

If you have visited here before you may have noticed that I like to sew. A lot. Well, I am very excited because I have a whole new reason to sew. Our family is expecting a new baby girl this fall! Whoo hoo! I haven’t had a baby girl to sew for in many, many years. But in addition, I get to make a few things for the expectant Mom and the 5 year old Big  Brother.

I have spent the last few days making a special gift for the expectant Mom. A  little care package that I plan to pop in the mail this week. I don’t want to hear anything about any imperfections since this was my first attempt at these.

Now some of you will readily recognize what they are. Others… not so much. The round things are nursing pads, or milk catchers, in some circles. The bag with the cute little birds is a wet/dry bag for the pads. And the strangely shaped objects in the upper right corner are heat/cold packs.

This was truly a labor of love! the materials I used were slippery at best! I think they turned out pretty good and will serve the purpose well. Now on to the good stuff like baby girl clothes!

Until Next Time,

I Made Some Things
